In today’s competitive ultra-competitive bar scene, standing out from your competition is crucial. One way to do this is by offering unique twists & variations on the most popular cocktails. The Aperol Spritz, a summer favourite in the UK for a few years, is perfect for innovation. In this video, I shared three exciting variations of the Aperol Spritz, along with a clever hack for those who don’t use much Prosecco.
The video begins by highlighting the popularity of the Aperol Spritz, noting that it has waaaay surpassed Pimms and Lemonade as the UK’s ultimate go-to summer cocktail. For pubs and bars, offering fun variations on this modern classic Cocktail can attract more customers and boost your sales.
One of the key tips I share is a hack for minimising your Prosecco wastage. For smaller venues that don’t go through much Prosecco, and for people like me who don’t actually like prosecco, using a decent Bianco Vermouth and Soda water as a great cost-effective alternative. This not only reduces waste, but also adds a unique twist to the drink, that your competition down the road, simply won’t be using.
The standard Aperol Spritz recipe is simple:
25ml of Soda water
50ml of Aperol
75ml of Prosecco.
However, the real magic lies in the variations.
The first variation is the Hibiscus Spritz;
This uses 10-15ml of Monin Hibiscus syrup and 6-10 drops of Stillabunt Burlesque Bitters to add an extra floral note.
The second is the Cherry and Chocolate Spritz;
This combines 10-15ml Monin Cherry Syrup and 6-10 drops of Stillabunt Chocolate Bitters for a Black Forest, dessert-like flavour.
Finally, the Blood Orange Spritz;
Tried and tested for about 6 years, This uses 10-15ml Monin Blood Orange Syrup and 6-10 drops of Stillabunt Honey Bitters for a sweet and tangy twist on the original classic.
By incorporating these variations into your menu, you can offer customers a fresh take on a beloved classic, setting your bar apart from the competition. Don’t forget to experiment with other flavours and ingredients to create your own unique riffs on the Aperol Spritz.
