In this video I’ve got a bottle of Nelsons Rhubarb & Custard Gin and I’m gonna give you my opinion on which Tonic you should mix it with!
In the comments below;
let me know if you used to love the Rhubarb & Custard Sweets as a Kid?!
Nelsons Gin comes from Uttoxeter in Staffordshire. They’ve been going for about 2 years...2016 was the launch date...and it was started by Ex Chef Neil Harrison. Neil loves his flavours, developed a passion for Distilling, so Gin was the next progression.
Their base Gin has 27 Botanicals and this lovely Rhubarb & Custard variant has added Natural Rhubarb Essence and Madagascan Vanilla. It’s really lovely!
You can grab a bottle for yourself on Amazon, for £40.

Tonic/Mixer wise...
Well as I have been doing, I tried it with 20 different Tonics & Mixers.
For the plain Indian Tonics. My Favvies were Franklin & Sons and Tesco.
Schweppes and Fever Tree were okay, but not as nice.
Schweppes 1783 in my opinion didn’t work. Nor did Fever Trees Aromatic or Mediterranean.
As for the Flavours. I’ve got some crackers!!
My Favvy; Franklin & Sons Grapefruit & Bergamot
2nd; Fever Tree Clementine and Cinnamon
3rd; Double Dutch Pomegranate and Basil
Others that worked okay were Fever Tree Lemon, 1783 Ginger Ale, Franklin & Sons Rhubarb & Hibiscus.
