The Paloma: is it the next BIG thing?

Today, in this blog, I'm gonna be looking at what could possibly be the biggest cocktail of 2025 here in the UK. That is the Paloma, a tequila-based cocktail that is already the most popular tequila-based cocktail in Mexico. As we dive into this video, I’ll show you how to make the Paloma and explain why it’s set to take the UK by storm in 2025. With Bacardi's recent announcement targeting the Aperol Spritz market with the Paloma, it’s clear that this cocktail is about to gain significant traction. Bacardi, being one of the largest brands in the world, has the resources to promote this drink heavily, and I believe bars and bartenders should take note. If Bacardi goes all out with their Paloma Serve, it could mean easy money for those who jump on the trend early, regardless of whether they serve Patron or not.

In this video, I’ll guide you through the traditional Paloma recipe, which is incredibly simple, requiring just three ingredients: tequila, lime juice, and grapefruit soda. I’ll also share three fun variations to elevate your Paloma experience. The first variation is a smoked watermelon Paloma, which adds a unique twist with smoky notes and a hint of spice. The second is a spiced hibiscus Paloma, bringing in floral and warm spice flavours. Finally, I’ll introduce a honeyed pineapple Paloma, reminiscent of the classic Lilt drink, balancing sweetness with acidity.

I want to hear from you! Have you ever tried a Paloma? What’s your favourite way to make it? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
